この度、中村人形のギャラリー、傀藝堂では米国出身で福岡市在住の作家ジェフリー・ウルフソンの個展を開催いたします。
コロラド出身のジェフリーはイラストレーション、ペインティングに加えてジュエリー、打ち込みによる作曲、ヒップホップ、など分野を横断して制作活動を続けています。
それらの作品には、青春期を８０年代から９０年という多様な文化がひしめき合った時代の中で過ごしたことと、特に日本のハイカルチャーとサブカルチャーからの影響によって醸成された彼自身のユニークな世界観が満ち溢れています。
今展では、日本のお伽話をテーマにした「TARO THE LEGEND」シリーズを発表します。
伝統的な日本の美意識に基づいて繊細な鉛筆とペンのタッチで描かれた作品たち。技術、日本の伝統に対する造詣の深さと好奇心が相まって彼の作品は本当に稀有なものになっていると言えるでしょう。
ジェフリーと数年来の親交を深めてきた中村弘峰も彼の作品からインスピレーションを受けた３つの新作を展示いたします。ぜひ多くの方にご覧いただきたく思います。

We are thrilled to announce that Kaigeido will be hosting a solo exhibition featuring the works of Geoffrey Wolfson, an artist originally from the United States and currently residing in Fukuoka City.
Born in Colorado, Geoffrey has cultivated his artistic talents across various mediums including illustration, painting, jewelry design, sound design, and hip-hop production. Those works are filled with a unique worldview that was shaped by his experiences during the diverse cultural era spanning from the 1980s to the 1990s, a time rich in high artistic and lowbrow expression.
At this exhibition, Geoffrey will unveil his latest series entitled “Taro the Legend,” drawing inspiration from Japanese folklore. Based on traditional Japanese aesthetics, the pieces demonstrate a sensitivity of pencil, ink and the ballpoint pen. This mastery of technique, combined with a wealth of knowledge and curiosity of traditional Japan, make Geoffrey’s art a true rarity.
Furthermore, Hiromine Nakamura, a longstanding friend of Geoffrey, will showcase three new pieces inspired by the “Taro the Legend” theme. We cordially invite everyone to experience this captivating exhibition.
